5th Annual Stoneham Star

STONEHAM – (May 5, 2013) The Rotary Club of Stoneham is pleased to announce the 5th Stoneham Star to be held at Stoneham Theatre on June 11th, 2013. Auditions will take place at Stoneham TV, 53 Central Street in Stoneham. Performers can schedule their audition either on Saturday, May 18th from 9:00am to 5:00pm or on Thursday, May 23rd from 3:00pm to 9:00pm.  Visit www.stonehamrotaryclub.org and select your preferred date to audition under Club Events to register! The finalists will be selected  from these auditions and will appear live on the Stoneham Theatre stage on June 11th with an opportunity to win $1,000 for first place, $300 for second place and $200 for third place as determined by a panel of three judges. There is also a Fan Favorite winner who is determined by audience votes. Last year's grand prize went to Riley Moriarty, second place was CJ DiOrio and third place was Devin McCall. Katie Roeder was the Fan Favorite. 

Last year judges were Galina Gutkin, secretary of Rotary Club of Stoneham and VP Market Manager for Salem Five Bank in Stoneham who was a stage and screen actress in Moscow for over fifteen years, graduating from the Russian Academy of Art, Dennis O’Hara, chairman of the Stoneham Cultural Council and former marketing director for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, and Mark Linehan a Boston based professional singer, dancer and actor who appears as an SS Guard in Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio, as a stunt performer in Surrogates starring Bruce Willis, and as an extra in Ted starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.  Randy Perillo co-founder of The Know Our Town Video Network was back to host for the fourth year. Final details for the judges will be announced shortly. Randy Perillo will be the MC again this year.

The club was very fortunate to have the following sponsors for 2012: Pizzarello and Silvestro Family Dentistry for donating the $1000 grand prize, MELD Center, Inc. for donating the $300 second place and $200 third place prizes, Stoneham Theatre and Weylin Symes and David Brown for all of their assistance in hosting the event, Stoneham TV for hosting auditions, purchasing the competition's trophies, and technical support by George Manfra, Brian Albertson, Jesse Manfra, Madeline Hanke and Joe Garozzo during the Finals, David Gardner and Boyds Direct for printing and design of all promotional materials, Dr. Mark Jawitz and Stoneham Animal Hospital for donation of gifts for the judges and host and for all of the local businesses who placed an advertisement in this year’s program booklet.

Last year’s event was very successful and the Rotary Club of Stoneham looks forward to our fifth year of the talent competition in June 2013!
