The Rotary Club of Stoneham funded Veteran's Walking Stick Program introduced by the Stoneham Memorial Day Parade Committee this year. When the club was presented with the idea, Joe Gresci immediately offered half of the $700.00 cost for the sticks and the club responded quickly with the balance. These decorated sticks were adorned with an American flag with the text "Stoneham Thanks Our Veterans", a flag of their branch of service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard) and a label indicating the inaguraul year. There will be additional year bands added based on future participation. If you look closely at the photos, you will see a Rotary International label and a thank you card attached to the walking stick. The Grand Marshal will receive a special label highlighting his role in the parade.

Over 40 walking sticks were given out this year to veterans from every branch of service and they were a hit.

A special thanks to Maureen Buckley, Kevin Cantwell and James Devlin for all their hard work putting together another great Memorial Day parade and for developing the Veteran's Walking Stick Program.
